Guitar legend Al Di Meola to perform at the MACC, Sept. 6
The Maui Arts & Cultural Center will host internationally renowned guitarist Al Di Meola and his Electric Band for a one-night-only performance at the Castle Theater on Saturday, Sept. 6, at 7:30 p.m. Local acoustic duo Indio & Avi will open the show.
Tickets go on sale online only to MACC members beginning Wednesday, May 28, at 10 a.m., and to the general public on Friday, May 30. Prices range from $15 to $125, with a limited number of premium seats available. A $100 pre-show meet-and-greet and merchandise upgrade package is also being offered.
A living legend in the world of guitar for more than five decades, Di Meola rose to fame as part of the Grammy-winning supergroup Return to Forever, performing alongside Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke and Lenny White. He has released over 20 solo albums and collaborated with guitar greats like Paco de Lucia and John McLaughlin as part of the acclaimed Guitar Trio.
Di Meola’s genre-spanning work fuses jazz with global influences, from flamenco and tango to Middle Eastern styles. His style is described as a “blend of complex rhythmic syncopation, lyrical melodies and sophisticated harmonies.” His latest double studio album, “TWENTYFOUR,” released in 2024, has been widely praised by critics and fans.
In keeping with the MACC’s dedication to supporting the victims of the wildfires, patrons for this concert are asked to bring non-perishable items for the Maui Food Bank. As an added incentive, patrons who bring donations will be entered into a drawing to win a meet and greet with the artist, a signed show poster and a merchandise bundle.
All tickets must be purchased online at www.mauiarts.org. The MACC Box Office is not currently open for in-person sales but can be reached for general inquiries at boxoffice@mauiarts.org.
